ibook won't sleep

my ibook g4 wont sleep, closing the lid or going through the apple menu.
The specs are:
1ghz g4
640MB RAM
60GB HDD
Airport Extreme Card
Combo Drive
OSX 10.4.5
I've tried it without and without peripeals plugged in, with and without the battery, I've run disk utility, reset the pmu, reset the nvram, and made other attepts at resolving the problem with no avail.Does anbody have any other ideas?

Have you installed the Screen Spanning Doctor hack? I'm pretty sure you can get rid of it by resetting the PRAM.

Also, what apps are running?

Reseting the PRAM didnt fix it. I'm not running the screen spanning doctor. I am running ilife, the adobe suite, macromedia studio, microsoft office, maya ple, toast, and macjanitor.
