I shut my iBook off last night and today when I go to start it up it's just staying on the white apple screen and the wheel at the bottom doesn't appear and it just stays there. I've tried several times to restart but still no luck. Any idea what could be wrong or how to get it started?

iBook won't start up.

and if i try starting it up holding the option key it lets me click on the hard drive and then i click the arrow and the apple comes up for a second and then is replaced by a circle with a slash going through it.
