iBooks - all ePub files get re-synced every time I connect to iTunes

Every time I connect my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.1 beta) to iTunes, all my 394 ePub books get re-synced to it, taking ages.

My PDFs do not get re-synced.

Any ideas?
