ibooks, automatica downloads on yosemite

so i open ibooks, turn on automatic downloads and it stays on even with the app closed

I restart my mac or log out and log in and its turned off again.

I don't have the issue with iTunes automatic downloads just ibooks.

This is also on a brand new mac retina setup with yosemite from scratch.

just updated to 10.10.1 and its the same.

any suggestions?

I didn't have the issue with mavericks.

Not a clue, but could you possibly force it on at login or startup via a script?
