Earlier this week, Apple released version 1.1.1 of its iBooks application, bringing several enhancements including support for embedded audio and video.

The update clearly contained a bug, however, as Apple today released version 1.1.2 with an additional bullet point in its "What's New" section:
Addresses a minor issue when updating iBooks.
Apple has not disclosed any additional information on the exact issue addressed, but clearly anyone who may have had difficulty updating previously might want to try again with the newly-revised version.

The update description on AppStore is confusing me. I thought it was the same update as last one because the desc look identical, which make me think there is something wrong with my system. -_-

PS: Is apple so afraid of admitting their fault? Why not simply say "fixed a bug in previous update"?! Errr, apple, turning bad.

Because it was not a bug, it was a "minor issue" :p

iBooks update

This last update fixed an issue the update earlier this week. After I updated last week all my books disappeared on my iPad.. I haven't synched since then, but this morning I updated iBooks with the new update and magically, all my books are back.

Mine disappeared, too - but after restarting my iPad, they re-appeared. The latest fix appears to resolve this.

RTP.

Looks like so. I had exactly the same issue where my books disappeared in iBooks but would re-appear again with few clicks on tabs. But after the update, iBooks work fine again :)

What kind of news is this?!

Something was changed in iBooks, but we don't know what.

Thanks for wasting my time...

Interesting how Apple fixes practically on spot problems caused by its king applications to make more profit... and how it ignores problems caused by other things (hardware/software) which don't sell songs, episodes or books...

Still... good to know they care :)

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case. The Nike+ application was broken by iOS4. They haven't bothered fixing it yet, despite the fact that the application helps them sell the rather expensive Nike+ shoe sensors.

From what I hear the Nike / Apple relationship isn't all milk and honey. That would be a feature article all to itself.

I had a similar issue with the that iBooks update - but it wasn't that the books were gone - it just took *ages* before it started displaying them again (no idea whether it was re-scanning all the books before starting to display them - or what happened - but after a while the books appeared again).

What it DID screw up however, was the order of books on the bookshelf - it had reset them. But luckily, it DID retain bookmarks and highlights...

Every iBooks update I've had so far reset the order of the books on my bookshelf, both on my phone and iPad. Updating to 1.1.2 however preserved the user-defined order.
