iBooks help re: magnifying glass

Has Apple phased this feature out? When I try to highlight (as in select) text on both my iPad and iPhone, a magnifying glass (the round one) no longer appears. Are both my apps glitched?

Also, does anyone have all the Song of Ice and Fire books? The chapters should be named for specific characters but now just have numbers on both the table of contents and on the book scrub bar on the bottom of the pages.

I get a rectangular magnification glass when I first highlight a word and press/hold the highlighted part. if this doesn't work for you, try a hard reset...
press/hold power and home button until white apple shows up; let go.
