iBooks library problem, can't open purchased books

Hi,

I recently bought a MacBook Pro w/Mojave, but suddenly when I want to open most of the books in my iBooks library bought/downloaded from Apple, I get an error message telling me that the "Book is destroyed/ruined". I can delete the book, and download it again from Apple, but it's still corrupted/unreadable. The books can be read on my other devices (iPad, iMac, iPhone). How can I fix this?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
