iCable Fiber Optic not working

I just received an iCable from Monster Cable today. I connected it from optical out (imac) to optical in (av receiver).

Thing is my computer saying it can not detect the device; "The device selected has no output controls"

Not sure what that means.

Hopefully you can help.
