I would like to know what features iCal users would like in the next version

Having been a long term user of the Palm Desktop prior to iCal I miss some of those features that I used to take for granted:...

I would like iCal to provide the functionality that the Palm Desktop provides with reguards to task/appointment integration.

Currently, in Palm Desktop [on both PC and Mac] you can drag and drop a to-do item, say "Monthly Report", onto a slot in the calendar and it creates an appointment automatically called "Work on Monthly Report", changing the schedule date of Task to the settings of the "Work on Appointment"

The benefit of this is that you can organise your work according to deliverables and then schedule your work by drag 'n' dropping the deliverables into your schedule.

Other big plusses will be [although the above is my priority]:

* support for iCal tasks to have scheduled dates as well as due dates - important for ensuring that you work on the task before it is due. This is not strictly necessary if you implement the "Work on" appointments that can have a different date than the due date of the appointment. eg If you create a new task in Palm Desktop giving it a due date of 20th november 2003 and then drag the task to 18th november 2003 at 11:00am for 2 hours the original task will retain a due date of 20 nov 2003 and the "Work on task x" will be scheduled for 11am-1pm 18th nov 2003.

* support for sorting tasks by calendar [limited use but handy if you have a large number of deliverables]

PS I would recommend anybody feeling strong about the needs of iCal users to supply feedback to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html
