iCal Alerts Triggering Late

Ever since I've upgraded to Lion, I've had issues with iCal alerting me to an appointment long after it has begun. This morning I created an appointment for 8:30 and it alerted me to it at 9:20. It does not occur all the time, but is kind of annoying.

Any advice in resolving this issue?
