iCal and Microsoft Exchange Server

Ok lso my dad will be going to a Microsoft Exchage server and he was not aware at the time that that would not be compatible with Apples iCal. So that is my question is it compatiable and if it is then are there any plugins that will enable use with Microsoft Exchange?:apple:
