iCal Event with Invitees

I started to edit an event within iCal that has several invitees. I ended up not needing to update the event but it will not let me cancel the changes. It is only allowing me to exit the event if I confirm the changes and send an update to all invitees, even if I put the event back to the original time it still wants to email an update. How can I cancel without emailing any updates? Thanks for any help.
