iCal events not appearing on iPhone, do appear on MacBook Pro and iCloud

My iCal works fine on my computer (MacBook Pro), and the events are visible on iCloud. But each day says 'no events' when viewed on my iPhone, in spite of multiple attempts at changing settings on the iPhone.

Sync is set to 'All Events'.

I actually have to pen-and-paper write my appointments and meetings down from iCal on my laptop whenever I go anywhere. Beyond frustrating.

Help?
