iCal events only in transparent color?

Hello!

I've just switched to mac and have a beginner's question: Although I selected a strong red color for my work calendar, the events are only shown in a transparent red. This actually applies to all calendards. Is there a possibility to see the full colors i.o non-transparent?

it's not that it bothers me that much, but as a beginner I wasn't sure whether there was any possibility to see the full color...

I find it somewhat strange that I can select a color for calendars, but the color shown is significantly different, because it goes transparent...

They are transparant so you would see overlapping appointments/events as well.
