my new iphone will be here hopefully monday..Question on my macbook I use ICal for all appointments. Does the iphone sync up with all different schedules ; i.e.- i have my appointments , kids activities , wifes school stuff, misc activities - all are different colors . will this show up like this on my new iphone?

Yes it does. You will use iTunes as your syncing application.
You have to connect the iPhone via the USB cable.
If you are a MobileMe subscriber you can have over the air (cloud) synchronization not only for the calendar but also for your contacts and me.com email.
Any IMAP or Exchange email also will sync over the air after you refresh.
There are some free alternative from google but I am not the right one to discuss about it.
