Is there a way to have a calendar event automatically label the event the name of the calendar instead of "New Event" ?

Not that I know of. But why would you want that anyway? Sounds completely pointless to me.

I looked around and couldn't find anything via google so I'd venture there's no real way.

So whenever i look at the calander it says work instead of "new event" .

In any case I'm afraid you're gonna have to type 'work' into the calendar yourself since there's no way of doing it.
