iCal icon problem

I changed my icon by copying and pasting it. However, when I click on iCal on my dock, it automatically changes back to the original icon picture. But when I click on "show in finder" it is the custom icon. The other programs on my dock don't have this problem. Did anyone else have the same problem? How did you fix it?

Also, I want to change the icons to Finder, Dashboard, Trash Can, etc. How do I do that? Do I have to use Candy Bar?

It changes back to the original icon because when iCal starts up its automatically shows that day's date, and unless you want to make 365 icons for each day, it will keep using the original icon.
