iCal icon replaced, but how to stop date displaying on new icon?

So I have successfully replaced the iCal icon with a new image icon. The issue now is, the date (ie. Aug 5th) is still showing up on top of the image. I really do not need to see the latest date on top of my image, so how do I stop it from showing and updating? Is it a script that Apple is running somewhere?!
