iCal-iSync not syncing to Handspring

I'm trying to sync iCal 1.5 with my Handspring Visor Deluxe. I noticed that the Deluxe is not specifically listed as being supported by iCal on the Apple site, though countless other similar Handsprings are--has anyone else had this problem? The error message I get in iSync log says "null answer received" or the like. Addresses from Address book go over fine. Any ideas would be appreciated!
