iCal - Moving around month view problem

I am used to Outlook and iCal is driving me nuts. Say I have a 2 week appointment, eg. a holiday last week in August and first week in September, how do I get month view to show the whole appointment on screen, ie. half of August and half of September?

I can only get iCal to show either August or September. In outlook you can use the arrow keys or mouse to just scroll down which seems natural. Can this be replicated in iCal? Thanks
