iCal not adding Entourage invitations received in Mail

Settings-----------PowerPC G4, OS X 10.4.11, iCal 2.0.5, Mail 2.1.3
Mail>Preferences>General>Default Email Reader>Microsoft Entourage.
Mail>Preferences>General>Add invitations to iCal>Automatically.
iCal>Preferences>Advanced>Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail>Checked

Problem---Entourage invitations to Mail-----------Open Mail and "Get New Mail," Entourage invitations received in Mail, however not received automatically in iCal.

Thus to place Entourage invitations in iCal----------Entourage invitation emails have Attachment>Meetings.ics.
Control+Click>Add to iCal = No response.
So...
Control+Click>Save Meetings.ics to Desktop.
Then iCal>File>Import>Desktop>Meetings.ics
Result=Entourage invitation added to iCal>Meetings calendar.

Errors make I are what?

Thanks
Chris Christopherson

Adding .ics invitations to iCal "just works" on my system. Perhaps they are not associated with iCal on your system:
  • Save an .ics attachment in a convenient location.
  • Select the file and press [cmd] + [ i ].
  • In the resulting dialog box, select the Opens with: popup menu.
  • Select iCal.
  • Press the Change all... button.
It should work now.

ical invitation mailed - reply not adding to ical?

As you were discussing features of ics files in ical i wondered if you could help with a frustrating query?

I am sending ical event invitations to friends who I play sport with and when they reply I get an email to say they "accept" or "decline" with a mail attachment ics file but the "acceptance" or "decline" isn't showing up in the ical event with a green "tick" or red cross....?

Is this a compatibility issue if they receive the ical invite on a PC?

Thanks
