Hey, I have quite a lot of things to do now, and in the immediate future and I have most of these in iCal. Rather than open iCal to check what my next appointment or due-date is, is there a way/program that will display what this item is? A widget like program like konfabulator would do it, but I don't want to pay for just this feature. Thanks!

I'm trying Meton right now, anybody have any other ideas?

I don't know about a widget by you can set and alarm for ical events, for message, sound, or email.

Yep, I think the built-in iCal alarm is your best bet.

I personally like Stattoo, a program that displays upcoming events (among other things) as part of your desktop. I think Stattoo is particularly useful since it will only display events from calendars you select. You can select one or many calendars to display. I know you mentioned you don’t want to pay, but in case you’re not happy with iCal alarms, it’s a good second option. Also, it’s just $13. ;)
