iCal Syncing Problems

Iphone 3G firmware 2.1 / iTunes 8 on a mac / mobileme syncing

Last week I entered about 50 calender appointments. On Saturday I updated to 2.1 from 2.02, luckily everything was backed up, including the appointments.

Now when I go to the calender on my phone none of the appointments are there, they are not in the "cloud" either, I don't know whether they were synced to the cloud.

If I restore back to the backup made prior to the upgrade I get all my appointments back but then they are gradually removed by the mobileme sync.

Is there any way I can force the appointments up to the cloud before they disappear ?
