iCal vs. iPod???

I just downloaded and installed iCal. It's available!!

I launched it and tried to import my .vcs file that was generated from
my Now Up to Date calendar.

So, I plugged my iPod in and waited for iTunes to do its thing. I
should mention that this computer is not the computer that my iPod is
synced with.

So, as soon as I get the dialogue box prompting me to sync my iPod with
the iTunes library, I click no, and my iPod then fails to mount. The
display on the iPod has the check mark indicating OK to disconnect.

All was working fine before iCal. Did iCal change something?

My setup is a Sawtooth G4/350 576 RAM, Jaguar.

I am already at iPod 1.2.

The default settings in iTunes is not set to mount the firewire harddrive. When you connect to teh computer and iTunes opens, just click on teh little iPod which comes up at the bottom right corner. Then set it to enable firewire disk.


I think that should do it.. unless i misunderstood what you said.

you will need iSync also...which won't be released till about the end of the month

Yes, ordinarily that would do it, but the iPod icon would disappear from the desktop and I never got that button at the bottom of the screen after clicking 'No'

Eventually, with repeated attempts it finallly mounted, but I am still stumped to explain this new behavior since installing iCal.

Actually, it will still work now, it's just not an automatic thing. If and when you get the iPod to mount, just open up the "calendars" folder, and drop in your exported iCal calendars.
