I'm just not sure it would be feasible for Apple to barge into the automotive industry.

Sure, an automatic car that drives itself. There are like 20,000 more parameters the Apple has little intel in. It would require a huge financial endeavor to break into car production. At the end of the day, it's unlikely the profit potential is worth the excess expenditure.
