iChat Audio Problem

I have not used iChat for awhile and tonight I am having trouble with the audio. Whoever starts the conversation cannot here any sounds. This includes when video chatting and when just typing back and forth. The other person can hear me fine. Yes of course I checked both of our microphones and made sure that mute was not enabled. I am running iChat 5 and snow leopard 10.6.1. I read somewhere that both people should set the bandwidth under preferences/audio/video to 500kbps and we both did and it did not make any difference. Please help!
