iChat Buddy Issues

I have been trouble with iChat lately. I have been adding buddies no problem until I tried adding my sister.

iChat will show her name for a good 5 seconds before hiding it and making it impossible for me to talk to her or vChat with her.

I opened preferences under security to see if by some chance I had iChat block her username, and that was not the case. Since I have tried adding her AIM, I have added a few other people. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling via the OSX disc, which did not work.
