Ok, I swear up and down that there used to be a place to set how long iChat would take to set you to idle and then after ,away and also an option for it not to set you away at all. If Im not crazy already I will be cause I keep going back and trying to find it. Thanks!

Only AIM has those options.
iChat uses the default AIM rules... 10min = idle, away = only when you set it manually.
