iChat eating up CPU?

Hey, on my TiBook, iChat is eating up my CPU, like 84% of it. Not even chatting, just trying to set it up since my AIM account is old, (has a . in the username, which Adium hates with a passion). Any reason why its happening?

Have you tried removing the account and readding it?

Yes, I can sorta manage to input my info, but then before I put my password in, it stops responding at all.

I am thinking some sort of iChat files are messed up as my iChat program works just fine.

Ok, I'm gonna reinstall it. I did install it using Pacifist.

A broken install is very likely the cause. What does the Console logs say is happening?

EDIT: It might be some frameworks, investigating...

Yeah, Default installer wouldn't install it and many other directions tell me to do so. Basically, iChatAgent is crashing. Log:

I just installed the .app through pacifist, and then repaired the permissions and grabbed the 10.4.6 combo, copied more files again to make sure, then reinstalled the 10.4.11 combo.

Yup, I'd use Adium but there is a bug in 1.3 (fixed in Intel 1.5) that rejects usernames with periods in it.
