iCHAT file transfer error

on ichat, I can send files to people but people seem to have a problem sending me files.
They put the file within the instant message box but when I go to pick it up, I get the following error:

Could not receive file “arcade-nocars.mp3” from barneyxtal:
An error occurred.

Any idea if my configuration is correct?
