I am having problems using iChat. I don't seem to be able to send files across to a fellow iChat user. Both of us end up looking at dialog boxes saying they're waiting for the other user to do something. This is frustrating as, a while ago I was able to send files to a print company using this method.

In addition I cannot get AV (using iSight) connection with another iSight/iChat-using Mac user.

I can't help thinking it's a Firewall issue.

Detailed advice welcome!

Sometimes it depends on the router - not all are compatible with iChat AV. If there's one compatible router in the chain, it works. If not, it doesn't.

For info, these are the ports that need to be open on a router's firewall to make it work

TCP - 5220, 5222

TCP & UDP - 5190, 5298

UDP - 5060, 5297, 5353, 5678, 16384 - 16403

The TCP trigger port on 5190 is 4099
