Ichat file transfer TROUBLE !!!

Please help !
Ichat is working fine but each time I want to send something, a file, it says: waiting for reply (accept) and when my friend accepts, nothing happens !
I've tried on many friends and they all use ichat with a gmail account (like me).
Maybe it's because i'm doing it in France ?
I use english ichat while they are using french ichat.

I use a macbook and they use the imacs.
we all use leopard.

Make sure you both have the proper ports open on any router/firewall. Here is the Apple document "Well Known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products.

Ah, thanks, but i'm really bad at changing router's and my friend's. If you've got a simpler solution, tell me.
