ichat help deleting contact/buddy

in ichat i drag a contact that spontaneously reappeared in my buddy window to the trash and it asked if i was sure i wanted to delete it i hit 'delete' and it disappears from my buddy list, but 3-5 seconds later it reappears in my buddy window. any help would be appreciated
