When I launch iChat, no windows open. The application is running, but most of the menus are greyed out and no key commands work. Any ideas as to what could have triggered this? More importantly, what can I do?

Thank you!

Right click on the iChat icon in the dock. In the menu, you should see whatever screenname you used to login. Click that and your buddy list should pop up.

Nope -- it isn't there. There's just a status menu and the normal hide/quit/remove from dock.

Try removing and re-adding your username to the list. To access the list, click preferences in the iChat menu and find the list of usernames. If this doesn't work, I recommend troubleshooting this with AppleCare by calling 1-800-275-2273.

Yeah, I can't access my prefs (even with cmd-,) -- really bizarre. Thank you for your help!
