ichat issues - rapid login/logoff and no preferences!!

I have been receiving the "ichat connection alert" for the past two days. I researched it and the most common advice is to try logging into AIM from port 443 rather than port 5190. My problem is that when I go to ichat preferences the only thing I see is the A/V options. I do not see any other tabs. How can I get all the preferences options back??

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!
