iChat multi-person vid chate suddenly not working

Since i bought my MacBook in June, its been fine. I've been able to use iChat for conferencing with 2-3 people fine, no problems.. lately though its only been allowing me to do it with one person. the other people with macs on my buddy list now only have 1 camera instead of the 3 overlapping eachother. It shouldn't be my connection speed.. i am using the same cable modem and router, and it still doesn't work when i directly connect to the cable modem and bypass the router completely.. any thoughts? All my mac software is up to date and i've searched somewhat but don't see anything related.. thanks
