Hey guys,

I rarely use iChat, but now i want to. I heard somewhere that you could try the .mac service for free and after the trial you get to keep your .mac account to use for iChat.

is this true?

also, if i use an AIM account instead of the .mac account do i still get all the nice videoconferencing features or no?

Yes you can use your AIM account. But if you are just looking for a Instant messaging client i would recommend Adium. I feel that its better then iChat because of all the option you can customize and download even more stuff from the website. You can change the dock icon, the online status icons, the icon on the top bar(forget what its called), and much more. There is only one problem with it and that is it has no video:( but besides that its awesome.
