ichat not working with leopard install

Hey all,

I recently installed leopard, on my black Macbook bought in '06. The ichat was working great for the first week, but now every time i try to launch ichat i get a "the connection to the host was unexpectedly lost" message. I know the host is working cause my adium is working fine, is this a common problem at all and what can i do?
