iChat Problem

when I'm in iChat with my Macbook Pro, no one else can hear me. I can hear everyone else fine. The video works great. And we're all on T1 connections, so it isn't a speed issue.

I've tried all the basic fixes and connection doctor. Nothing.

My internal mic works with Audacity so I know it's not busted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it muted in your conference (x through a microphone icon over your picture or an orange volume bar in an audio chat)?

Have you selected the correct microphone in iChat preferences?

now they can hear me fine, however, i can't hear them. this happens in the multi-chat and two-way chat. ugh.

So do you have the correct speakers selected?

Now it's a little weirder, it worked great yesterday.

I believe the problem is that I have an external sound card that I sometimes hook up to, and even though I've disconnected it and everything, I probably should just restart in order to use ichat or else it still tries to use the sound card that sucks.

No, I doubt restarting is the best solution. Really, what you should do, is, if you connect or disconnect your sound card, make sure iChat is using whatever mic and speakers you want it to (i.e. either internal or external).
