I have only one person in my Buddy List on iChat, I am not much of a chatter anymore, and he has a .mac account. I entered him in with his name@mac.com and he shows up just fine. I have my .mac set as my iChat prefs and I deleted anything that I can find on my Mac that says AOL or AIM on it.

So, why is it saying AIM Buddy List at the top of my iChat window?

So, when everyone fires up their iChat it says AIM buddy list at the top of it?

Curious, because according to Wikipedia, it says that iChat is a proprietary program. So, does that mean that Apple created iChat but that is runs with the AIM chat engine?

Yes.

It means that iChat is a means of accessing the AIM chat protocol. iChat was created by Apple.
