This might be a real noob question but...

Is there a way in ichat on Snow Leopard to start video during an audio call or go back to audio only from a video call.

eg, on skype i can be talking with my parents and we may decide to start the camera for a few minutes, but then turn it off again.

My bandwidth is very limited and slow (often less than 1.5mb adsl) so i often find this useful, but cannot see how to do this in iChat.

thanks
CH

I don't believe you can turn video on and off on the fly like you can with Skype, you would need to hang up and recall. Have you tried playing with the bandwidth control in iChat's Preferences to limit its video bandwidth usage?

You can choose between: 100kbps, 200kbps, 500kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps and that does change on the fly.
