OK, so i've searched through the old posts but still nothing...

My friend has iChat 3.0 (he's using Tiger).
PowerMac G5... Just bought an iSight.

iSight is showing up in iChat (the green icon) and also in the system profiler - so no connection problems.
However, when either of us tries to video message each other, he receives a message saying "iChat camera is in use by another application". Yet the only thing he has open is iChat.

We've tried everything... repairing permissions, checking the firewall (it's off)... the strange thing is we can audio chat using the mic on the iSight. Just no video.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Same message... 'your camera is in use by other application'.
Oh, and we've unplugged all other firewire devices too.

Still not working.

And do you both get the same message when connecting or using the video preview on both of your computers?

Same problem here

Hi DJBomb,

I have the same problem, my daughter wanted to try out the video chat. I plugged my DV camera in and the same thing as you - "your camera is in use by another application"
I shut down iChat went to iMovie and the camera fired up with no problems.

Have you found a solution?
