Does iChat support hotmail addresses? and, if not, what is the best software to use for chatting to hotmail contacts using the iSight built into new iMac as webcam. iv heard of adium,aMSN,fire and loads more.Which are the best?

There's ways to make iChat work with MSN (hotmail username's), through it's Jabber capabilities, but it's very complicated and not really worth it. You're better off using a free .Mac account name (you@mac.com) or an AIM username (ex. bob934) for iChat. Then you'll be pretty sure the iChat video will work, not sure how it would work through the Jabber-->MSN trick.

If i do use an @mac.com address will my current hotmail contacts be able to chat to me using webcam on iChat?

Ok thanks ITASOR. Can anyone else recommend some apps that will allow me to chat to my @hotmail.com contacts with a webcam? thanks guys

How do you get a free .mac email??
apart from the 60 day trial or buying the year's subscription?

I wouldn't really use any of the other stuff with .mac apart from the email you see


And i use aMSN, best one i've used and it works well with the built-in iSight
