So my professor is going to give an iChat lecture tomorrow from Romania. He just tried to send me a one-way video chat to test out his connection, and to my horror it is sooo bad! The video is about 0.5FPS and the audio cuts in and out, and in the brief moments that it is in, it sounds like a 2kbps MP3!

Now, I'm pretty confident the connection on my end is good. Are there any optimizations I should suggest to him for what I suspect is his poor connection in Romania? Or could it be because Romania is so far away from Illinois that is causing the problem?

Is there a way to give audio the priority over video?

If the audio is that much more important, you could just do an audio chat and see how that works out. Pretty good connection speeds are needed for video chatting.
