Hi - I'm completely new to Macs (have had my 24" imac for all of a week) and my brother (also on an imac) and I have been using ichat every day. I love it.

My mother then got a web cam for her PC and all of her friends use skype, so she refuses to download AIM and wants me to download skype (mothers are such a pain).

Anyway, just wanteed to make sure there wasn't anything I should be concerned about with skype - a co-worker of mine said he used skype and it was great, but it downloaded a whole bunch of viruses and pop-ups to his pc. Am I immune to that with a mac?

Skype is fine. Use it but don't download files from people you don't trust the same way as you would with any software out there.
