iChat won't show one of my friends that I've added.

So I've had the new MacBook since it came out, before that I was a PC.. () any way, I added a friend on iChat, and I can't view her. She also has a mac, but when I look at her profile, it says: Capabilities --- not a buddy. But I added her over 100 times, literally, I have to go ahead, add her, then I have to click the name before it disappears with in 3 seconds... can anyone help me? Thanks

Essentially the suggested course of action is to quit iChat, navigate to the user preferences folder in ~/Library/Preferences, toss the lot of iChat plists (could be up to 4) to the Trash, re-set up the iChat account and login.
