Hi guys,

I signed out of iCloud on my iPhone X and back in and then I got the message that Messages in iCloud can't be turned on because my iCloud address wouldn't match the iMessage address (but they do).
I still could turn on Messages in iCloud but when I then went into the Messages app I got a message that Messages in iCloud is disabled and it gave me the option to "Repair my account". Never seen this message before anywhere.
Then I went to the Messages settings, signed out and clicked on "Use Apple ID for iMessage" and even then it said that the accounts don't match. Did this again and this time it seemed to work but the Messages app is still buggy (e. g. account names not showing). Will try to sign out if iCloud and back in again.

Anyone has any idea what's causing this message that the addresses don't match? Years back I indeed had another Apple ID as I have now but I changed it years back and only logged into my iPhone with the new Apple ID. The old Apple ID is also nowhere listed as alias or something like that. I just use it as an email account under "Accounts & Passwords".

Thanks and best wishes
Chris

After the 2nd time logging out and back in: The same thing (minus the "Repair my account" thing). But after a reboot the names show up correctly now. So I guess it's working now 👍

Still wondering why this message comes up in the first place.
