iCloud and whatsapp

I just noticed my free space is almost full so I gave a look in my backup to see if there is something I can delete to free more space.
Whatsapp has 2 backups! One is in settings-iCloud-storage-manage storage (300mb) and one in settings-iCloud-storage-manage storage-iphone (740mb).
do I have to keep both? Why are there 2 separate backups?
