This started with the App store...
Tried to download a couple of app updates on my iMac & received a message saying 'We could not complete your update. cancelled'
Tried to open an app and it said 'App is corrupt, delete & re-download' or some such so I deleted, tried to re-download through App Store & got the message 'We could not complete your purchase. cancelled'
Logged out of App Store (on iMac) & back in. Same alert.
Rebooted. Same alert.
So I thought... I'll log out of iCloud in Sys Pref and back in just in-case.
Now I can't log back in to iCloud on my iMac.
I enter ID & password & it just goes back to 'Enter ID' window after thinking for a minute.
So I logged into Apple ID webpage via my browser on the same iMac that wouldn't connect and using the password etc. everything else seems to be rejecting I was able to log-in no drama via a browser so I haven't been hacked or anything.
Changed my password while there to see if that was the problem and still it won't let me in to iCloud via Sys Pref.
I can log-in to the App Store (on iMac) but still the same errors when I try to download. I can view all my account details etc. but can't get apps.
I am totally lost.
Anyone have any suggestions for how to fix it or wtf is going on?

I had problems today with the App store: when I tried to Update either of two apps that needed updating, I'd get the message 'We could not complete your purchase. cancelled'. I didn't have your other problems (but neither did I log out in System Prefs).

I was able to fix my App store problem by using the command-line version of the top solution on this page.

rm -r "$TMPDIR/../C/com.apple.appstore/"* followed by killall -9 appstoreagent

If you try this be darn sure you get the command right -- 'rm' deletes files and they don't go into Trash! There is also a description of how to do it from Finder which would be less error-prone...

Don't know what to say about getting you logged into System Prefs again, sorry!

Hey Brian, thanks for the reply.
Yeah, look it was seriously weird.
What made me suspect something was going on from the Apple side was that I could log into my account through a browser & do everything there just fine.
I changed my password through browser but for about 1/2 a day still could not get back into my account on my iPhone or log back in via Sys Pref on my iMac.
Eventually it just stopped having it's little hissy-fit & all was fine. So like I said... must have been a very specific iCloud/Apple glitch.
Only hassle now is I have to log back into everything with new password...
