iCloud back up taking too long

Is it just me, or does the iCloud back up take a ridiculous amount of time?

It still says 4 hours remaining and I'm only backing up about 1.2GB.

It's caused my internet to grind to a halt as well - downstream/upstream all below 1mbps.
